On June 17-18, 2023, the team of the IT department of the Peoples Friendship University named after Academician A.Kuatbekov represented by Vice-Rector for Digitalization Yessenov M.K., Director of the Department for Digital Transformation and Technology Transfer Zhaksilikov A.A., Chief Researcher of the E-Tech Hub PhD, associate professor Zhakipbayev B.Ye. and IT specialist Rassul S. took part in the 48 Hour Film Race project.
48 Hour Film Race is a fast-paced competition where participants create short films in two days. In 48 hours, the teams will have to write a script, shoot, edit and send to the organizers a film with a duration of no more than 4 minutes.
The 48 Hour Film Race competition was first held in Almaty in 2015 as part of the Clique Fest copyright film festival. The project resumed in 2017 and already had a republican coverage. From 2018 to the present day, 48HFR has been held in the countries of Central Asia. All these years the project has been supported by the US Diplomatic Mission in Kazakhstan.
“Shoot in 48 Hours” is an annual competition for teams of filmmakers from Central Asia. Any interested citizen of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan can apply. Both professionals and amateurs participate in the competition and win. For beginners, participation in 48HFR is a great opportunity to touch the world of cinema. And teams with experience can test their skills in extreme conditions.
A unique feature of the project is the cinema screenings that take place throughout the region. We show almost all competitive films, giving participants the opportunity to see their creations on the big screen.
