History of the faculty
“Humanities and Pedagogy” Department of Kazakhstan Engineering and Pedagogical University of Peoples’ Friendship (KEPUPF) was established after the reorganization of Humanities and Technology Department according to the Rector’s order in 2006. Over the years, the Department has paid a particular attention to ensuring a close connection between three types of activities: educational, scientific and innovational. Department activity is based on creating a system and structure of continuing education, saturated with active scientific research at all stages: from secondary, higher and postgraduate education to professional retraining. In the context of educational activity, the department is guided by the State education standards for undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate studies.
Currently the Republic of Kazakhstan Ministry of Education and Science is actively discussing and developing possible options for restructuring the education system. The fundamental change is in the content, technological, organizational and legal foundations of higher education institutions activities. The grounds for restructuring universities activities are the Bologna process regulations, modern requirements of social and economic development of society and new management concepts. The need to maintain university sustainable development in these conditions involves the development of university strategic restructuring program in accordance with modern state educational policy. According to the Address of Kazakhstan President, all Kazakhstan higher educational institutions master the principles of institution autonomy. These transformations allow higher educational institutions to acquire academic freedom, to introduce innovative programs and to use additional resources for development.
The most important directions for modern higher education development are the intellectualisation of educational process content, the introduction of new educational modes, the creation of conditions for students, the development of their creative abilities. Ultimately, all of these should be reflected in training specialists who will be able to successfully solve their employment problems in a market economy conditions and increased competition in the labor market.
A significant tool for the modernization of the department is strategic management and strategic planning. There development in KEPUPF became relevant due to fundamental changes in the system of higher and postgraduate education in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the need to determine strategic directions, goals, objectives and expected results in each area.
The main activity of the department is strict educational standards rejections in favor of continuous educational innovations; shifting priorities from maintaining functionality to investing in human capital assets and a transition from department regional isolation to the inclusion in international network professional communities.

The development and updating of elective courses catalogues (ECC) are carried out on the basis of theoretical and practical results of teachers’ research and correspond to the indicators of educational programs update. ECC update, made at the request of employers, corresponds to actual practice requests.
The introduction of Bologna Declaration regulations in the educational process allows to ensure the academic mobility of students and teachers for multi-vector work: the department implements programs of double-diploma education.
International cooperation is carried out on cooperation agreements with universities of near and far away countries: China, Russia, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. Every year, university professors improve their professional skills in such countries as: Russia, China, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, etc.

Great attention is paid to the development of external and internal academic mobility. Students of the department study and do scientific internships at the universities of Uzbekistan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.

Academic mobility – the movement of students and teachers of higher educational institutions for a certain period of time to another educational or scientific institution within or outside their own country for the purpose of teaching or teaching.
The main barriers to academic mobility are cultural, socio-economic and academic barriers. The Bologna process is an attempt to reduce these obstacles within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
Students participating in academic mobility programs are usually divided into two groups: the so-called frimuvers – students who go to other educational institutions on their own initiative on self-financing conditions, and program students who are participants in student exchange programs on the basis of faculty, faculty, educational institution or organizations at the national level (for example, such as Erasmus, Nordplus or the Fulbright program). At present, the Erasmus exchange program, which has already become traditional for European students and teachers (which implies such movements), was supplemented with an element of virtual mobility, or Virtual Erasmus, thanks to which students from different countries can study together without leaving their homes.
