Digital Day!

On November 10, 2023, the Digital Day was celebrated for the first time at the Peoples’ Friendship University named after Academician A. Kuatbekov.

The «Digital officers» of the University were presented with Letters of Gratitude from Rector R.A. Kuatbekova, signed by the regional representative of Astana Hub – CEO of Shymkent IT Hub Aknur Praliyeva.

   

It should be noted that at the Peoples’ Friendship University named after Academician A.Kuatbekov, digitalization has already become a basic need and a key tool for achieving national competitiveness. It is no secret that today digital transformation is the determining factor in the competitiveness of not only individual companies, countries, regions, but also entire successfully operating universities with a long history. Kazakhstan is in the top 30 of the UN ranking of the most digitized states, ahead of many developed countries; However, a lot of work is underway to further digitally transform Kazakhstan. Expert forecasts predict that in 10 years, up to 70% of the world’s services and products will be based on digital platform models.

In these conditions, the Peoples’ Friendship University named after Academician A.Kuatbekov has set itself a strategic and ambitious task – to become one of the leading digital IT-Hub in the south of Kazakhstan. Of course, this will require time and resources.

For information, the Day of Digitalization and Information Technology Workers is celebrated for the first time in Kazakhstan on November 10, starting in 2022. The corresponding resolution “On introducing amendments and additions to the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated October 31, 2017 No.689 “On approval of the list of holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan” was signed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov. In this regard, the previously existing holiday, the Day of Communications and Information Workers, celebrated on May 17, was renamed the Day of Communication Workers. The emergence of a new professional holiday “Day of Digitalization and Information Technologies” was initiated by the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan in order to support industry workers.
