Digital transformation of universities and the strategic impulse of the Peoples’ Friendship University named after Academician A.Kuatbekov in these 5 priorities
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in his speech at the plenary session of the Digital Bridge-2022 forum, clearly and succinctly gave the concept of digitalization. “Digitalization is not following a fashion trend, but a key tool for achieving national competitiveness. First of all, it is necessary to eliminate digital inequality, ensure maximum access to the Internet and high-quality communications for all citizens. Today it is the same basic need as roads and electricity.”
The Head of State outlined five priorities in the digital transformation of the country:
· the first is the development of human–centricity;
· the second is the creation of favorable conditions for the IT industry;
· the third is a large–scale modernization of the IT infrastructure;
· the fourth is the development of the digital economy and Industry 4.0;
· the fifth is the strengthening of human capital.
It is no secret that today it is digital transformation that is the determining factor of competitiveness not only of individual companies, countries, regions, but also of entire successfully operating universities.
The Peoples’ Friendship University named after Academician A.Kuatbekov is always in step with the times. In this regard, the university successfully operates a Computer Technology Department, which is an IT hub between various university structures.
Experts predict that in ten years up to 70% of products and services in the world will be based on digital platform models. Under these conditions, the Peoples’ Friendship University named after Academician A.Kuatbekov has set itself a strategic task – to become one of the powerful digital hubs in the south of Kazakhstan.
Already now (December 23, 2022) at the Kazakh-British Technical University, the existing IT communities, led by the heads of IT companies, have gathered at a round table, who are already actively discussing the full implementation of the mechanisms of Digital transformation of universities.
